I recently cancelled my Provident card account after I was notified that my APR would increase to 31%. No reason. This is despite the fact that I have other credit cards 10x the credit limit at less than 10% APR! I was never late with my payments. More often than none, paid the entire balance. When I called to close my account, the person on the line inquired why I was doing it. I told him "the APR is too high." He didn't offer me an opportunity to pitch for a decrease nor did he ask if there was anything that they can do to keep me as a customer.
